Ann Bell MBACP accredited. UKRCP
I am a BACP accredited counsellor/psychotherapist and EFT practitioner offering individual therapy and couples counselling. Clients seek counselling for a wide range of difficulties including relationship issues, depression, anxiety, anger management, bereavement, low self esteem, loss of confidence and the effects of sexual, physical and emotional abuse.
I have been counselling for over 16 years and in private practice for the last 9. Before that my experience included couples counselling at Relate for 3 years and with individuals in a local GP practice for 2 years, as well as for a local counselling agency for 5 years.
A psychodynamic training guides my thinking - this is a way of understanding how patterns from the past influence the present, often unhelpfully! Understanding these unconscious influences can then bring about change.
My aim is to create a safe, non-judgmental experience for my clients and to use my best endeavours to help us both understand the issues. Sessions take place in a self contained consulting room which is quiet, private and comfortable and looks out over pleasant gardens. Parking is available. Unfortunately, as there are steps into the room I cannot offer wheelchair access.
Sessions are normally between 9.00 am and 8.00 pm weekdays.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I have a great deal of experience of working with clients who are undergoing some sort of life crisis, e.g. redundancy, separation and divorce, mid life, retirement or bereavement.
I use Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) or 'tapping', when appropriate, for the relief of symptoms of anxiety and distress. I am also particularly interested in the connection between anxiety and some forms of physical illness.
