Margaret Lipton, MSc,UKCP, MBACP
At the heart of my work is the strong belief that we can change, which is based on my own positive experience of psychotherapy. The journey can be difficult and challenging but it can also be hugely rewarding, uplifting and ultimately life enhancing.
In sharing your journey I can offer you a safe, supportive, non-judgemental space where you can explore what is troubling you
and a chance to speak openly and confidentially to someone who is able to listen. You will find an opportunity to be heard and understood whilst grappling with uncomfortable, perhaps confusing, thoughts and feelings and gain some insight into how your present difficulties may be linked to earlier experiences. Over time this can lead to a sense of integration and wholeness with increased self awareness and greater personal fulfillment.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have an MSc with Clinical Diploma in Integrative Psychoptherapy from the Metanoia Institute and am registered as a qualified psycotherapist with UKCP.I am also a member of BACP and UKAPI.
I hold a Certificate in Counselling Skills and Attitudes from WPF and engage in ongoing professional development through attendance at conferences, workshops and peer discussions.
I have several years clinical experience including working in private practice, GP surgery and counselling service.
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
UK Council for Psychotherapy
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
Not everyone seeks help with a specific issue like depression or anxiety. Therapy can also support personal development and growth, help build confidence and boost self esteem. It can foster understanding when you feel different, isolated or stuck in a pattern of dissatisfaction and can provide support if you are are dealing with grief or shame. It can offer a place to talk through the impact of changing circumstances or to share your difficulties in meeting the demands of everyday life.
My standard fee is £50 for a 50min session although reduced fees may be negotiated according to circumstances.
I follow the codes of ethics of both the UKCP and BACP and all my clinical work is professionally supervised.
I view each therapeutic journey as unique, guided by the central relationship that develops between therapist and client. Please feel free to arrange an introductory session to discuss your needs, to consider short or long term work, to ask any questions you may have and to see if you feel you could be comfortable working with me.
