About me

We are living in stressful times, with numerous, pressures expectations and uncertainties impacting all areas of daily life. It is easy to forget that our immediate responsibility is to the person who looks back at us in the mirror. Neglecting self and own needs in prioritising external pressures impacts home, relationships, family and work balance.

My training as a integrative Counsellor encouraged me to consider our need for attachment and belonging. To understand how we create healthy relationships within all aspects of life and develop an environment that is compassionate towards self and considerate towards others. My belief is that we are all negotiating complex relationships and at times it is beneficial to engage in therapy to gain insight into what is and what isn't working for us.

I have spent the last few years deepening my insight and understanding about the complexities of relationships and how to identify whether this is a healthy or an unhealthy relationship. This has encouraged me to consider traits and behaviours that are present and may affect the ability to get your needs met. Therapy can help you identify what those needs are and how to incorporate them in your relationship.

I am experienced in working with difference and diversity. I understand how culture is a significant part of identity and how transitioning from one culture to another can be challenging. My belief is that in bringing the richness of culture together a more inclusive self can be experienced. My aim is to recognise how we all are so diverse yet so unified in our hopes, fears and aspirations.

I have worked with clients who are exploring their understanding of self in their identities to develop a more authentic sense of self. This is an area of work that has contributed to my depth of appreciation for the uniqueness of each human being.

I have a curiosity for learning about human expression and behaviours. I have a natural desire to want to understand and make sense together. The relationship we have with ourselves and others gives meaning to the joy and struggles of living alongside one another.

We are social beings and as such need to connect. My approach is Humanistic, one human being with another making sense of the areas of life you would like to be different and how to make the changes that create the difference you need.

I have over 20 years experience of working as a counsellor. I offer individual and couple counselling. I am an Accredited Member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My integrative training enables me to work with a wide range of clients and difficulties. I have over 15 years experience of working with NHS referrals(GP surgeries), PCT (Mind Matters),asylum seekers, LGBT clients (Yorkshire Mesmac), rape and sexual abuse issues(Star Project). I also work with several Employee Assistance programs who provide counselling for employees, including work-related difficulties, stress management and PTSD. I speak Farsi fluently as well as English.

There are times in our lives that in spite of all we know we feel stuck and unable to see the way out. I see my role as a counsellor is to walk with you holding a torch till you find the missing pieces or acquire useful new ones to put your life back together the way you choose to. Therefore i see our relationship as being vital to make this journey possible.

I work both short and long term depending on your issues and preference. We can discuss this in the initial session.

Please feel free to ring or email me to discuss your needs.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
