Barbara Lowden, UKCP, RegMBACP
Counselling/psychotherapy can be very helpful when you’re feeling stuck, struggling with getting on with your life in a meaningful way, and feel held back by, for example, lack of motivation, low self-esteem, anxiety and guilt. With over 20 years' experience in private practice as a counsellor/psychotherapist, I can offer you an opportunity to talk things over with someone impartial, in a confidential framework, and help you with understanding your problems and yourself.
My philosophy is that problems can provide us with a challenge to learn more about ourselves and that suffering is telling us that something is wrong in the way we are living our lives, and should therefore be investigated, rather than avoided.
It is natural to be anxious if counselling is unfamiliar to you, and the initial session is a chance for us to see whether we could work together. I will ask you for some information about your current problems and the background to them, and then we can decide together whether to continue. We can contract to an initial set of 8-10 sessions, or you may prefer to commit from the start to a more open-ended timeframe. I work with individual adults, sessions last 50 minutes, and the fees are as detailed below.
I also offer Supervision for practising counsellors and psychotherapists, and help for trainees with their essay writing, as well as proofreading.
