About me

'There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you' - Maya Angelou

I am here to listen and help you make sense of your story. In the process of telling and being heard, lives can be transformed and healed. You need not suffer alone.

Professional, Confidential, Respectful - psychotherapy and counselling. Specialising in the treatment of chronic anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma and relationship difficulties.

I am a highly experienced and fully qualified therapist with extensive training and life experience. I have worked in the field of mental health for over ten years, and I specialise in helping people resolve long-standing psychological difficulties, such as chronic anxiety, depression, self-harm and trauma.

Psychotherapy and counselling provides you with a safe, confidential space, where you will be heard by someone who knows how to listen in a way that is focused on you. We will explore what is troubling you, and we will look at the ways of thinking, feeling and behaving that are no longer helpful to you. The counselling space also gives you a place where you can experiment with new ways of being. People find a course of counselling is an effective aid to discovering new possibilities for themselves. Counselling also can increase emotional-resilience, self-understanding, and improved capacities for vitality and intimacy.

Counselling can help you move beyond

  • depression
  • panic and anxiety
  • low self esteem
  • bereavement and other types of loss
  • lack of direction or feeling stuck
  • difficult life transitions
  • relationship problems

I am an experienced therapist and a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). My professional training has been extensive over the past 12 years. At the heart of my work is a deep respect for the uniqueness and dignity of each person that I work with. It is my view that in seeking therapy people are making an important and courageous step towards taking control of their well-being.

Please note - at present I am not offering counselling for couples or for children.

For children's therapy see Carla Shorrock (also on Counselling Directory)
For couple's therapy see Relationship Scotland - Fife

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
