BACP & COSRT. Individual & Psychosexual& Relationship therapist

About me

I am a therapist and a coach and have been in psychological services for over 15 years. I now head up Neu with like-minded therapists who are also committed to bringing research together with compassion and a commitment to long lasting change.

I work with individuals, but also have 3 +years of specialist training in working with Relationship and Psychosexual issues. I work often within an attachment based experiential model. My continual development in this field has brought me to significant research based models that have been transformative for people that I work with.

Individual clients come in often with a myriad of issues from anxiety, grief, loss of identity and feeling lost in life or weathering difficult life transitions. We take time to take these apart and look at how they are impacting your current life situation.

Couples work alongside trauma work has become my area of interest and focus. These areas can bring a tremendous difference to our wellbeing and resilience. We work together to try and empower and bring about sustainable change internally and with how we might be relating to the outside world.

I work with couples both online & in person. I myself am based between the New Forest and London.

Couples work can sometimes benefit from an intensive period of therapy when the relationship needs active focus to change. This can be when the situation in the relationship has become difficult or that the couple have a reduced amount of time in busy schedules. These intensives are often better for couples who are not dealing with an immediate crisis but have been perhaps weathering longer term issues that are coming to the surface.

We have 2 current bases, Central London & the beautiful New Forest (where we can organise a retreat styled relationship space) Please email to find out about these intensives. These can also be organised in a situation close to your home if you cannot get away.

I have a deep understanding of Psychosexual issues which can often impact relationships and add to the bag of relationship difficulty. This can be out of the remit of normal couples therapy.

Often couples appear where one is feeling despondent or fed up with the relationship as it stands and the relationship has become stranded. Some couples may have weathered many years in relationships but feel disconnected from each other and feeling like the relationship doesn't bring them any pleasure.

I also specialise in couples who are stuck in conflict or are recovering from affairs or addictions.

All of the team @ Neu have ample experience in this science based couples counselling. This is particularly important as these times in a relationship can be stormy and need someone who has the right experience to steer the helm. Its always helpful to realise the pilot knows how to charter bumpy terrain.

We are a practice who specialise in family and relational therapy.

This can be from people who are struggling to feel secure, content, connected in relationships. Or even those who feel like relationships have too many barriers and are confused by them.

I have chosen to focus on using Gottman's model & Sue Johnsons' Emotionally Focused Therapy which has a high success ratio for helping couples navigate tricky water. This is an empirically researched model of working with couples.

I highly recommend the book :Hold Me Tight - Dr Sue Johnson- Is a good resource to read if you would like to understand more about the model we use.

The therapy space that you will come into will be a place which is safe, confidential, kind, non-judgemental and warm. It is in this space that we can then begin to look at the issues you are facing and why they may be troubling you. Meaningful relationships allow us to feel connected in the world; having connection is a significant stress buster to handle day to day challenges. Sometimes we are ourselves unable to know why we have become discontent or face anxiety. It is in this reflective space we can become known to ourselves and we can be guided by our own responses to things.

All of the therapists @ Neu are chosen because we become involved in the process of getting to know your world inside out. Piecing together the map that you have lived within is the first step to creating a map you would like.
As a small intimate practice ,each of the therapists is chosen because of warmth, compassion and knowledge.

As co-facilitators we use the map we have to help you work through the issues you are facing. We collaborate with you to try and bring internal awareness and insight. It is handy to know and be guided into a meaningful life that can bring us more satisfaction.

Neu practice therapists are informed by current Neuro-scientific research and contemporary psychological studies. This means that we are all equipping ourselves each year with new research that helps us help you. All of our therapists are committed to high levels of CPD.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
