About me

I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor, more details can be seen on my website angela.scannell.com. I am a professionally trained, registered and accredited member of the BACP, ECP and IAHIP working within their ethical guidelines. I can be found on their websites as a professionally registered therapist.

I have 20 plus years experience of helping people with a broad range of psychological and physiological issues including anxiety, depression and relationship challenges. Clients come to me for therapy as a result of a crisis, a transitional event or simply the stresses of modern-day living. Awareness is always the first step to providing you with new choices and solutions. My approach navigates and supports you through your journey to self-discovery.

A trusting, confidential and respectful relationship between the client and me is always at the heart of successful therapy. I offer an initial 30-minute free consultation where together we explore how therapy may work for you and how comfortable we feel to work together.

I provide face to face service, located in Whitstable, Kent. I also provide services via Skype and telephone for
existing clients.

If you would like to book an appointment, please do contact me by phone or email.

Training, qualifications & experience

My background is in the health service, as a therapy radiographer working in the UK, US and in Ireland. In the 1990s I was also a part-time psychology lecturer for students at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland. I then became a counsellor and group facilitator before training as a psychotherapist. In 2000, I left the health service and commenced a full-time private therapy practice in Dublin.

Having returned to the UK, In 2006, I commenced practice in Whitstable, Kent. I work in collaboration with Ruth Hoskins, Body Psychotherapist, and together we facilitate Stress Management Workshops.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
