About me
Face to Face and Online counselling and supervision
I have many years experience in counselling and psychotherapy within the NHS, charity education and private settings. I have worked with a wide range of emotional difficulties.
I offer a non judgmental environment in which to think about your difficulties and together with you try to find better ways to manage them. You may wish to contact me if you experience difficulties such as with:
Relationships, depression and anxiety, bereavement and loss, anger, family, difficult childhood experiences, gender identity, infertility, cultural and significant life changes such as in the family structure or relocation.
My approach is broadly psychodynamic offered to individuals aged 16 and over from a variety of social and cultural backgrounds. I work with individuals, couples and family members.
I have experience in training and facilitating groups. I am a qualified and experienced clinical supervisor. My experience covers settings such as the voluntary, educational, public and private health.
I am also a senior accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the British Infertility Counselling Association and am a trained couples therapist and an accredited Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) therapist and supervisor (Anna Freud/Tavisotck).

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

What is Counselling and psychotherapy?
Counselling and psychotherapy are processes that help people examine the issues that have led them to seek help. The therapist’s job is to listen to you and encourage you to talk about what is troubling you. The aim is to help you understand your problems, explore options and assist you in reaching your own decisions about how to handle your concerns – it is not to provide the answers or tell you what to do. Therapy may be a difficult process and you may feel that you need to have a few sessions before you experience any progress. However many people find it ultimately very beneficial and find that they have explored aspects of themselves that have previously gone unchallenged.
