About me

In-person, telephone and online sessions (Zoom/FaceTime) offered.

A very warm welcome to my profile page.
I want to begin by acknowledging that whatever troubles have brought you to this space, the added pressures of living through a global pandemic cannot be underestimated. You may be seeking help because of the impact of coronavirus on you or your loved ones, be this physically, emotionally, financially or all of the above. Or if you were already finding life difficult, recent events, especially the current lockdown, may have only magnified and intensified what you have been dealing with.

You may be feeling a sense of isolation, with no-one to talk to and/or worried about sharing your concerns with others. It is totally understandable if you are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, panicked or depressed. These are natural, albeit painful, responses to human suffering. It can be hard to know where to go to for help when so much of life, and what may have supported you, feels inaccessible.

I hope to be of help and support and offer a safe haven to share what life has brought to you that feels unmanageable or unbearable.

I aim to create a confidential space where you can share all that is troubling you, so we can work together to find a way forward that is of benefit to you. Your needs will be specific to your situation and that is what will guide the work.

What type of therapy options do I offer?

I offer a range of interventions to meet your needs. I offer traditional in person sessions in Southend on Saturdays if that is your preference.

If you wish to have face to face sessions, but it is hard to leave home we can meet in a neutral, virtual space via video (Zoom).

If it is easier to be heard than seen, we can have therapy on the phone.

Or perhaps you would like the option of mixing your choice of communication. That is fine too. You are in the driving seat, which is really important, especially now, when it may feel as if many of your choices are or have been taken away.

Each type of therapy comes with both opportunities and challenges which we can think about during the initial consultation.

Whatever therapeutic medium you choose, it is my aim to create a holding and respectful therapeutic relationship that fosters healing and growth. I offer compassion and understanding where you can share your difficulties without fearing or feeling judgement.

What have I trained in?

As an integrative therapist I am trained to use a range of approaches to help you depending on what difficulties you are managing.

Compassion, however, is the cornerstone of my therapeutic approach. I have found that being able to view feelings, thoughts and behaviours through a compassionate lens can be truly transformative.

My specific trainings include Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Existential and Transpersonal approaches. I am also a UK registered practitioner of Mentalisation Based Treatment and have completed Levels 1&2 in Emotional Freedom Technique.

What this really means is that the issues you bring can be addressed in a variety of ways allowing for a therapeutic approach that is uniquely specific to your needs and objectives. I am also currently completing a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Certificate.

What issues do I have experience with?

I have experience working with clients in addressing difficulties related to:

  • Anxiety and Generalised Anxiety Disorder
  • Depression
  • Trauma and it’s impact on functioning and the Nervous System
  • Toxic Shame
  • Emotional, physical, and/or sexual abuse
  • Complex Bereavement

How long does the therapy last?

I offer short term (6-12 sessions) counselling and longer term ongoing therapy. There is no obligation to commit to any specific duration, the goal is that you feel supported in the process while knowing you can leave when it feels right for you.

How long are the sessions?
Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually weekly, but your needs may be different, which we can discuss during the initial consultation.
