About me
Psychotherapy and counselling is often called the 'talking cure'. People often value such help during a time of transition and change, crisis or loss when it is difficult to know 'what to do?'
I believe it is always possible to improve the way in which people tackle their problems and to use times of difficulty to make changes for the better.
I am a qualified UKCP Existential Psychotherapist with more than 20 years experience. I am committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
Existential psychotherapy and counselling will clarify your understanding of yourself and your life circumstances. It may help you through a specific life crisis and in becoming better at handling difficult relationships. Together we shall explore what matters most deeply to you in life and tackle what is most problematic.
CBT strategies and techniques can help to reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, panic and depression.
I work with individuals & couples on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a MUPCA accredited, UKCP Registered Psychotherapist with a Post Graduate Certificate, Diploma and an M.A. in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling. I have more than 20 years experience as a therapist.
I trained in London at Regent's College School of Psychotherapy and Counselling and then the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling which is affiliated to Sheffield University. I have also trained and have certificates in basic CBT from The Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre and Advanced Diploma in Couples Counselling.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
