About me

I offer Integrative Counselling, Mindful CBT and Life Coaching in Norwich and in Banham, near Attleborough. Sessions are offered at these two locations, via Skype or FaceTime, or in the workplace.

Philosophy

As an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor I offer a patient and open approach to counselling. For problems such as depression and anxiety, or problems with relationships, Integrative Counselling provides an holistic approach to counselling that embraces humanistic, psychoanalytical, and cognitive models of counselling to offer a talking therapy that respects the individuality of the client.

I also offer the option of Mindful CBT which is a way of working with some issues and suits individuals who wish to follow a more structured approach to therapy. The mindful approach to CBT emphasises the concept of the "compassionate mind" that the model seeks to develop in the client when exploring the issues that give rise to distress.

I provide peaceful rooms, with nearby parking, in the village of Banham which is a short distance from Diss and Attleborough. I also practice at the Norwich Wellbeing Clinic, Chapelfield, Norwich. I also offer sessions over Skype or FaceTime or, occasionally, in the client's own home.

Counselling for individuals

Working at your pace I offer space, time and non-judgmental understanding to help you explore issues that give rise to:

  • Depression and anxiety
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Workplace stress
  • Feelings that things are just not right for you

Counselling for the workplace

The value of counselling extends beyond emotional crisis and can help you to examine your goals in life. Counselling can be used to help organisations and individuals work with differences and to resolve frictions that occur in the workplace. As an independent counsellor I work with individuals and organisations and count among my past and present clients senior managers from the retail, technology and commercial sectors.

  • Career coaching
  • Coping with redundancy and career changes
  • Abuse
  • Anger in the workplace

Life Coaching

Life Coaching is offered as an alternative to counselling when appropriate. Barriers to success are not always found by exploring the past and how past experiences effect the present day subconscious, but may be found by being able to find clarity of purpose. However, although Life Coaching  does not focus on on the past, it can be used to explore any self-limiting beliefs the create barriers to success.

Life Coaching can be effective in exploring:

  • Career goals
  • Educational opportunities
  • Personal or professional development
  • Relationships
  • Life changes or transitions

Sessions are longer in duration than for counselling but are less frequent (typically 90 minutes rather than 60 minutes).  The purpose of each session is too focus on challenges and barriers, to explore the options and opportunities, and to set achievable goals. This might be a step-by-step process and the longer periods between sessions allows time for you to recognise and measure tangible results or to observe and recognise previously unknown barriers that present themselves. This places you at the heart of the process as it you that sets the agenda for meetings. My task is to facilitate this and ensure that your agenda is focussed on enabling you to achieve your goals.  Over time, this enables you to assimilate fully your learning from the Life Coaching process.
