About me

Thank you for visiting my profile. I am an accredited psychodynamic counsellor working with adults and I offer a confidential, safe, non-judgemental space for clients to come and explore their problems. I can offer a fixed number of short term appointments, or longer term counselling. I have experience in working with clients with a wide range of issues - particularly depression, phobias, anxiety and panic attacks, sleep disorders, post natal depression, bereavement and relationship issues. I also have a lot of experience of working with clients who have suffered childhood traumas such as sexual abuse or rape.

I can also offer support to couples who may be going through a difficult time in the relationship together.  I will not take sides or judge, but will offer a safe space for you both to come and talk through the problems in the relationship.

I can offer daytime appointments, appointments early in the morning as well as on Saturdays.

Training, qualifications & experience

Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling 2007
Introduction to CBT 2008
EMDR Advanced Training (Level 3) 2009
Diploma in Integrative Supervision 2016

I worked at Step Up, which is a charity that supports families where children have been sexually abused, for thirteen years. At Step Up I offered counselling to adult survivors of sexual abuse or rape as well as family members who have been affected by sexual abuse. I have also worked at another charity as a counsellor since 2008 where my clients have a wide range of problems which include post natal depression, bereavement, sexuality issues, relationship problems, acute depression, anxiety and panic attacks. I also work with adults who have experienced domestic violence.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.
