About me

As a Gestalt therapist the most important element of my practice is the relationship you and I create together. A safe trusting relationship can provide the security and freedom from which to explore, discover and learn more about yourself and what has brought you into therapy. You and I will work together to  support what is presently working well for you, identify areas that may be less rewarding, and help you find your own solutions. I am interested in helping you find meaning and possibilities in your life through increased self awareness.

I believe we can all benefit from a supportive relationship no matter what age or stage in our lives. People seek therapy for many different reasons. My skills and experience include, but are not limited to, working with anxiety and depression; gender and sexuality; trauma; attachment, separation and loss; identity; abuse; relationship and family issues.

Engaging in personal therapy requires ongoing commitment, courage and  willingness to risk being fully seen, heard and understood. I am committed to working alongside you, staying with you when the going gets tough and celebrating the moments of joy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been working as a therapist since 2007. I work with integrity, compassion and respect.  I am a Registered Member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I abide by BACP code of ethics and receive regular supervision of my clinical practice. I value my ongoing professional and personal development and participate in regular training events.

My initial training and qualifications were in social work. I have 27 years experience working with individuals and families as a local authority social worker, manager, supervisor and practice teacher.

Outside of work, my life is enriched by my yoga practice, dance, singing, music, drawing, printmaking and nature.

I value our differences, and welcome referrals from all sections of our community. Please get in touch with me if you want to discuss working together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
