Judy Salmon Reg MBACP(Accred). Accredited certified EFT practitioner.
I have 14 years experience working with clients on short and long term basis, with issues such as generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder, anxiety, depression and feeling sad. As well as family issues, relationship issues such as affairs and betrayal, seperation and divorce, and low self esteem and phobias. I am caring and approachable, with a belief that just asking for help is a huge step forwards to feeling better. However counselling is a very personal experience and it is important that you are comfortable in my presence, so think of a first session as getting to know things and building confidence and trust. It may not be easy or comfortable to talk initially.
How I work
I Initially trained as a Person-Centred counsellor, so listening and allowing space for you to express your thoughts and feelings is an important part of the therapy. However I may use a combination of therapeutic techniques depending on your needs and what feels right for you. I have attended training courses which have allowed me to develop further skills.
I am an accredited Emotional freedom technique (tapping) practitioner, which I use with clients, who wish to experience tapping, usually for stress and anxiety. It helps work through personal life challenges by clearing the emotional response connected to the issue. This works well for psychological barriers and self-limiting behaviours as well as pain relief, addictions, stress and anxiety.
I also have a special interest in using some creative art therapy ideas when appropriate.
Will counselling work for you?
If you are new to counselling or you have found benefit from counselling before, I may be able to help you. sometimes we just need a safe place to offload, and a space to relax in to look at your problem with fresh eyes. I respect the many different experiences of the individual, some people just feel unhappy in some way and need the help and tools to make sense of their situation.
A little more about me
Originally from a farming, rural background with a strong equestrian influence, however, circumstances and life changes led me into counselling at a later date. Always being interested in psychology in humans and animals alike as well as different types of therapy and self help, I trained some years ago with horses and as an aromatherapist. The person -centred approach to counselling felt right for me, helping others to bring about change. I have been a counsellor now for 14 years. I enjoy gardening, anything creative, art, music, walking, cycling, 'Tapping' and 'Art Therapy' for self development.
