Deena O'Brien MSc (Psych) Dip.Couns. Dip. Hypnosis
When we are troubled, sad and depressed, anxious or unhappy, we often need someone to talk to - someone who is non-judgemental, who gives us their full attention and who respects our right to be who we are, warts and all. Counselling provides the space that enables us to explore our feelings, hurts, pain and ultimately joy in a safe and confidential environment. My role as a counsellor/therapist is to act as a change agent, in order for you to make the changes you desire for yourself. To help you develop your own competence and self-worth.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have 20 years counselling experience with clients from a range of backgrounds and with a wide range of difficulties. I am unshockable. My qualifictions are: MBACP (Snr Accrd); UKRC Reg; Dip. Psychotherapeutic Counselling; Dip Hypnosis with CBT and NLP; Cert. CBT; Cert. Supervision; Cert. Shamanic Practice; MSc Transpersonal Psychology. I endeavour to provide you with the support you need to heal and move forward, and I also work from a spiritual perspective where appropriate. I am also a senior accredited supervisor of other counsellors.
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

My fees are £50 per hour, with a minimum fee of £25. I offer concessions for those with lower incomes. For hypnotherapy as a stand alone treatment the fees are £80 for a 2 hour session.
I do my best to be available Monday to Friday, from 9am to 7.30pm. That means my last appointment each day is 7.30pm except for Friday when my latest session is 5pm.
The object of all emotional therapy is to explore your inner world, to heal the past and let go of old beliefs, ideas and fears that are holding you back. It is also important to look at what is causing you difficulty in your life. All of us have problems of one kind or another which can be talked through and hopefully resolved. By offering you the space to do this, and by including hypnosis where appropriate I can help you regain your sense of worth and help you become who you were born to be.
