I offer confidential, short term or long term, counselling to young people and adults.
People have always found me easy to talk to and I have enjoyed listening to them. Over the years I became increasingly aware that I could be more effective in my listening if I had counselling skills. So in my early forties, when my children were older, I decided to train as a counsellor. When I started my training I found my life experience and maturity enhanced my understanding in many areas, together with my own experience of being a client. Now, twenty years later, as a Registered member MBACP (Accredited) Counsellor I bring that sensitivity to my counselling.
When family, or friends, are unable to help, a trained professional, who is not emotionally attached to you, may be just the person you need. My practice is in peaceful surroundings where you are free to explore your thoughts, feelings and concerns however big, or small, they may be. As your Counsellor I would aim to give you the help you need to enable you to find your own way forward in whatever way is right for you, supporting you in making any appropriate changes.
'When I started seeing Paula, I was very confused about the way I was feeling. She helped me identify a clear goal that I wanted to achieve from counselling, and then, by allowing me to explore my emotions in a confidential and comforting setting, I was able to work out why I was feeling the way I was feeling. I was able to make peace with a lot of issues, having identified what the root causes were. I can honestly say that I would not have been able to do this without Paula's help.' 'E'
'Paula was a great help. She is very easy to talk to and I felt like she listened to me, and understood my emotions. The 'tools' and techniques that she supplied were very helpful and have helped me overcome my anger problem. Not only has she helped me learn how to control my anger but has given me some practices I can take away and use in other areas of my life.' 'L'
'I would recommend Paula to anybody with trouble in their lives - she has a wonderful way of helping without advising and working with her really has made a huge difference to my life and relationships'. 'S'
'I found my counselling sessions with Paula to be fantastically helpful. I wasn't sure I would really benefit from the process, however, I was able to make sense of some things that had happened in my life by talking them through with a great listener. Paula never pushed me, forced a view on me or judged me, she just gently let me explore things at my own pace. I would have no hesitation in recommending her to others'. 'A'

Having been in a road traffic accident, my confidence had been shattered, anger was getting the better of me and as time went by the worse it was getting to the point where I could see myself giving up driving all together. Paula was extremely understanding from the very first meeting. The surroundings were so relaxing and I felt safe and reassured with the tools and kind words Paula shared. Not only did Paula help me but my husband and family as well, as through me, my anxieties, anger and fears were shared, relieving them of upset and worry. The rapport I built with Paula was one I will remember always and if I had a choice a friendship could be built. Thank you so much for your understanding, sincerity and loyalty, the boxes, Meerkat and Mini, I love driving again.‘A’
