Do you find that stuff seems to get in the way of your happiness?
Or perhaps you have been through or about to go through a major life transition (divorce, betrayal, bereavement) that has had a huge emotional impact on you and you can’t see the wood for the trees.
Maybe your past is catching up with you and it's now starting to affect your everyday lief...
Maybe you have an important decision to make that is feeding every part of your anxiety. This could be anything from a career change, a house move or separation / divorce. Or you are overtaken by rumination which feels like a deep, never ending trough.
Sometimes events from the past serve to heap more pressure on us and it leaves us feeling low, such that we find it impossible to look towards a brighter future.
Let me help you rather than soldiering on alone.
Depression is something that people may feel when their past just won’t leave them alone. Anxiety can often be a fear of the future possibly having its roots in what’s happened before, which is a simplistic way of saying you are not fully living in the present.
Let me help you move from fearful to fearless in a few short sessions; at the very least it will give you a greater understanding of yourself, your authenticity and give you permission to acknowledge where you are so you can move forwards to a happier, brighter future.
The testimonials below give you some idea as to what people have gained from working with me – short or long-term.
I will be creating a mini e-courses to support people with eradicating self-sabotage so if you are interested in this, please let me know.
My experience to date has covered:
- Relationship issues (divorce, betrayal)
- Anxiety / Stress
- patterns of relating
- Anxiety / Panic (hypnotherapy)
- Performance Anxiety
- Developing greater self-confidence
- Self esteem
- Career issues
- Life Transitions
- Mid Life Crises
I have published brief articles on this website with regards to relationships and depression.
Because I work integratively (drawing from CBT, person-centred, systemic, psychodynamic modalities, hypnotherapy) I have a range of tools that are bound to help you find what it is you are looking for. I am also trained in BWRT®, a relatively new and innovative therapy that can literally switch off anxiety and troubled emotions.
I am genuine, honest, hardworking and I constantly carry out research to keep myself up to date with the therapeutic world and you can be assured of my credentials.
If you feel something is missing, or you just feel a sense of discomfort, don’t suffer in silence, contact me and I will help you.
I can offer short and long term therapy, face to face, online or via Skype from the comfort of your own home. Many people enjoy the benefits of working in this way which saves a journey!
Here are a few comments from recent clients (reproduced with the permission of my clients and anonymised to protect their identities). [Please note that results are not necessarily typical and everyone gains what they need from therapy.] Results will differ from person to person.
“Before I met Kate, I was experiencing depression, anxiety and worthlessness and felt lonely; after seeing her for nearly a year I felt more confidence in myself and felt as if I could do anything, she helped to question my feelings of depression which helped to clear it. I felt the creative tools [drawing] and intuitive cards helped me explain how I was feeling. I would definitely return if the need arose. [Female client]"
"Kate is a very gifted and well-adjusted person who helped me face challenges that surfaced in new ways that benefited me.” The counselling was “very good from the beginning”. [Male client]
“I found Kate easy to talk to, attentive, non-judgemental and sensitive. She was also understanding, caring and perceptive. I gained relief from talking about my problems which then enabled me to work out ways in which I could resolve them. I would return if the need arose…" [Male client]
“Kate was a sensitive, attentive listener and at the end of our sessions together I felt much change for the better…." [Male client]
“Hope you can keep up your excellent work, for me you were very intuitive” [female client]“Kate has helped me loads, even though I feel I’m in the depths of despair she has been there for me and I have managed to tell her something that I have never felt able to share with anyone! Kate is a truly amazing person who is definitely in the right job” [female client]
“What I appreciated most about the counselling was a time for reflection and ability to talk freely. Always very impressed with Kate’s dedication and genuine desire to help – e.g. researching outside of sessions and looking for different materials / styles etc." [Female client]
"What I found particularly helpful was the ideas , exercises and reading that Kate recommended and suggested together with the freedom to talk honestly about my view of myself in relationship" [male client]
Why come for Therapy?
Sometimes it is difficult asking for outside help but there are often times when talking to friends and family doesn’t give you the impartial support that an outsider, trained in therapeutic listening can give you.
Whilst support is naturally important, some people do not even have that luxury, or they may feel bombarded with advice that doesn’t suit them. I listen reflectively, mirror back to you what I hear which in turn helps you make the decisions you need to move forwards. Men in particular often want to “solve” their problems and find that their normal problem solving techniques become redundant when it comes to emotional issues.
If couples are in conflict, one of them may seek therapy when the other one cannot face the idea of it. Therapists are there for this purpose and it is a strength to reach out. Effective talking and active listening may resolve things far more deeply and lastingly and thus the issue loses its power.
About me and what I offer
I am based on the outskirts of Malmesbury and offer short and long term therapy for individuals. My therapy room is up one flight of stairs and my house is situated in a peaceful part of the area near a river. Parking is straightforward and if needs be, there is a bus stop nearby.
I work integratively which means I aim to meet you where you are now, offering supportive interventions where appropriate. Hypnotherapy is also available.
Sometimes working creatively with drawing or writing, sand tray or even stones is extremely effective. This enables us to tap into the subconscious part of you that may be holding you back, addressing limiting beliefs and breaking through emotional blocks.
Perhaps you are experiencing difficulties in your relationship and are seeking a breakthrough. Or one of you wants to leave the relationship and the other party does not, maybe you are experiencing lies, deceit and betrayal.
Sometimes it is about working out an effective way to communicate, or discovering what your primary love language is. Other times it may involve setting aside differences and working to a common goal together once more.
Therapy can help you rediscover your compassion and acceptance for each other, find a new shared vision and move forwards!
I have worked with adults and young people over the age of 16 for almost 10 years to facilitate changes required, or at the very best helped them rediscover their true selves to enable them to move forwards from difficulties.
I am a full member of four professional bodies (British Psychological Society, The National Counselling Society (Accred.), the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council and the National Council for Hypnotherapy (Reg) and am DBS checked so you can be assured of my credentials. I also hold professional indemnity insurance.
My practice has easy access from Malmesbury, Chippenham, Cirencester, Tetbury, surrounding villages such as Crudwell, Minety, Charlton, Lea, Great Somerford, Upper and Lower Seagry, Sutton Benger, Sherson, Foxley and other villages not mentioned within the vicinity. If you are further afield, do consider online support (Skype / Email) as I have helped people successfully this way.
