About me
I work with individuals couples and families. As well as my counselling rooms I can also travel to the client's home if this is preferred.
I believe that people need to be heard but also need experience and expertise.
I specialise in recovery from dependence and addictions and have over 30 years experience in this field. I work with drug addiction alcohol addiction, prescription drug dependence as well as gambling addiction, sexual and relationship addiction and workaholism.
This condition can be hugely debilitating and shameful to the sufferer and often needs an experienced professional to help bring about complete recovery.
I also work with the rest of the family and loved ones of the addicted person because there is lots of evidence to suggest that individual recovery can be improved through their involvement and that very positive changes can take place in the family whilst the addicted person prepares to recover.
Authentic recovery includes becoming all you can be and so life coaching which involves much more goal setting is an integral part of my approach.
All this work can be done whilst keeping you at home and at work, functioning at a high level whether on tour or on business trips as most of the work is done over the skype service.
Training, qualifications & experience
I would say that my main training has been life! I have also studied in the areas of Family systemic therapy, Imago couples therapy, Gestalt and NLP. I have been a qualified Counsellor for over 15 years.
I also work with my wife in a specialist relationship/marriage counselling service called 'the Marriage Doctor', please see our web site for more details.
It is quite difficult to sum up the idea behind this training but I think it is worth saying that it concentrates on relationships rather than what is 'wrong' with a person. We form relationships with everything and everyone we come into contact with and how we build and manage those relationships is hugely important in how we feel about ourselves and the quality of our life.
