Therapist, trained in EMDR and Counselling.

About me

I am trained in both EMDR and Counselling.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a unique and highly effective therapy that helps people recover from problems that are a result of experiencing trauma.  The 'reprocessing' part refers to helping the brain to process distressing and problematic memories so that you can remember what happened without feeling the emotional pain. EMDR is used extensively all over the world for treating PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and is also effective for treating mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

There are times in life when we all need some support. It may be that we experience a loss;  of a relationship, a job, a bereavement. Sometimes life simply feels like too much to cope with and we need to stop and 'take stock' People come to therapy for a huge variety of reasons.

My approach to therapy is to offer you a safe, calm space to talk. Together we can talk about whatever has brought you to therapy and we can explore what you need from sessions. If you decide to go ahead I will help you to get what you need from our work together.

Taking a decision to see a therapist can seem daunting at first but therapy can help you to talk about difficult feelings, anxieties and fears that you may have kept hidden. I have many years experience working with people with a comprehensive range of issues. Therapy helps you to speak freely, gain a different perspective and work towards a more fulfilling and positive future.  It's also important to say that we can work with what ever is concerning you, no matter how small you may think it is.

Therapy helps because it is different from talking to friends or family. I will not advise you or tell you about me. The time of the session is your space to explore whatever you wish to bring.

Therapy is confidential, unless I think you are at risk or have committed a crime.

You can have as many or as few sessions as you decide.

I work online, using Zoom and by telephone.

If you're not sure about booking a session, please feel free to give me a ring and we can have a chat first. I am happy to answer any questions.

Registered / Accredited

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
