About me

I have practised in the counselling and psychotherapy field for 30 years. You may be experiencing work or personal life difficulties including loss and bereavement, relationship issues or problems with addiction. Talking through your difficulties will help.

I offer a sensitive and thoroughly grounded approach which is interactive. I operate along the lines normally associated with an equal opportunities employer and aim to provide a non judgemental environment where differences are valued and respected. The initial session will determine the focus and time frame, either an agreed number of sessions or open ended.

Within the confidential environment that therapy provides, you will be able
to explore any issues that you may bring which will help you to make sense of your life, relating to the current situation, past issues and hopes for the future.

You can then explore the options you have in your life and help make sense of your thoughts and feelings. It will help you to see things more clearly and so enable you to discover your true potential and help you to choose how to move your life forward in a more fulfilling way.

My private practice is home based and located close to public transport ( bus and train)

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Client Testimonials

I had counselling sessions with Nina for a few years when I was going through a very difficult time in my life. It took me a while to take the first step and seek help, having these sessions at Nina’s and so close to where I live really helped me to become comfortable with the counselling process.

I appreciate how Nina was able to empathise with me as some sessions were very emotional, also her ability to give me time to get myself together before continuing. I did not find it easy to talk at first but Nina soon made me feel comfortable and relaxed.

Counselling has been crucial to helping me lead the much happier life I now have with my partner and my little girl. It has guided me and taught me a lot about myself, particularly in how to deal better with difficulties and hurdles life can throw at you. I would now not hesitate to see a counsellor if I felt the need.
"J", Surbiton

I cannot put into words how beneficial receiving counselling from Nina has been to me. She gave me the tools to deal with immediate issues as well as day to day life. I would not hesitate to consult her again.
"D", Surbiton

I would highly recommend Nina Roberts for any counselling needed. I found her to be compassionate, insightful and inspirational. She helped me through a challenging time where I had to make decisions regarding my past and future. Her recommendations and guidance have served me well alongside the growth I have made as a result of our time together.
"F", Surbiton

Thank you so much for the strong sense of self worth and boundaries that you have helped me to develop through our sessions together. I value everything I realized and learned through your counselling, enormously. It has been so beneficial not just for me, but also for my husband and son as we develop our own values and ways of living as a family.

Nina gently empowered me to make positive, lasting changes to my behaviour and my relationships. These changes enabled me to cope with a difficult period in my life, including career change and bereavement, and have enriched my quality of life. I still often reflect on our sessions as I seek to maintain healthy boundaries and nurture my own well being amidst the demands of family life.
