Desiree Silverstone MBACP (Snr. Accred)
Looking for a counsellor/psychotherapist can naturally be quite daunting. Most people have fears and questions that prevent them from taking the first step. I offer an open, warm, friendly and confidential service and offer an initial 30 minute introductory telephone session free of charge.
When working with clients I use a variety of different approaches i.e. Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Person Centered, Transactional Analysis, Solution Focused Therapy and Systemic theory. I believe in adopting an approach that is best suited to the individual, rather than trying to provide a one size fits all approach'. I may utilize multiple mediums in therapy including talk, art, play or drama. My belief is that it is important to impart psycho-educational information to my clients so that they are better able to understand their issues. This enables them to have more awareness as well as and skills which will serve to help them in the future when difficulties arise.
I strongly believe in continuing self-development and regularly attend supervision, workshops and courses. I adopt a holistic philosophy and creative approach when working with clients and believe that each person is their own best expert.
I am an Accredited British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy therapist and work according to their Ethical Framework.
