About me

I value the importance of working at a pace that suits a person's needs and work on building trust and safety within our relationship before traumatic  or life experiences are explored or worked through.

I am a UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) registered psychotherapist and a qualified mindfulness practitioner, with  therapy rooms in Colchester, Essex

My psychotherapy practice offers you a secure space to explore urgent or long-term problems you may be experiencing - a place to find yourself in the world. I can combine traditional psychotherapy with mindfulness and compassionate focused therapy creating  different pathways through each depending on who you are and what you need.

My approach is collaborative and client-centred. One of my primary goals is to work with you to achieve an understanding of the subtle and complex ways people see and experience the world. Psychotherapy offers a route towards enhancing an awareness of personal experience and the meanings generated from it, and creates the potential for exercising choice in how you approach others.

I meet each client with openness, flexibility and respect. I listen and engage with you anew in each session. My perspective is that it is the psychotherapeutic relationship which is central to the success of therapy.

I offer short or long-term psychoanalytical psychotherapy and mindfulness teaching. We can discuss in our sessions what may be most suitable, and be flexible about how needs can change over time.

I also offer supervision as part of my private practice.

My therapy rooms are located in Colchester. Please look at my website for further information.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Psychotherapy and Social Studies from the Institute of Psychiatry and a Diploma in Clinical Supervision from the Westminster Pastoral Foundation. I have undertaken various courses in Mindfulness Training at Bangor University and engage in ongoing professional development. I am registered as a psychotherapist with the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy).

I have well over twenty years personal and clinical experience in psychotherapy, including working at the Women’s Therapy Centre, the Lambo Day Centre, and as Clinical Services Manager at City Hackney Mind (CHM).

I have taught an eight-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course at Mind, St Joseph Hospice, the Mindful Project and the Haringey Residents Association. I have delivered mindfulness courses in a number of secondary schools.  I currently facilitate mindfulness groups at the Nightingale Hospital and teach the eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course at The Mindful Project, and from February 2016, I will be teaching mindfulness at City University.
