Nikki Heaton Bennett , Senior Accred. Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor
Frustrated? Fed up? Had enough? Is your relationship challenging you? Feeling depressed? Suffering with anxiety or panic attacks?
You may be experiencing difficulty for the first time or you may feel your life has been a constant challenge which has left you feeling ground down, overwhelmed and lost. Perhaps you have always managed life's curve balls but have hit a wall leaving you confused as to why you cant 'get your act together'. Maybe you are consistently anxious leaving you unable to sleep, remember things or act with clarity. Sometimes anger or rage takes hold which is leaving you frightened and out of control.
Whatever emotions or behaviours are disrupting your life. We can look at them together, work through them and help you get the life, peace of mind or health you really want.
As an integrative therapist, hypnotherapist, coach, clinical supervisor and trainer I am trained in multi modalities (different ways) which allows me to bring the wide range of training and experience together to create a therapeutic approach and/or coaching that is bespoke to the client and their needs.
My work with you will bring about dynamic and impactful results but we will work at your pace to get there. My focus within the work we will do together is about resolution and relief from limiting beliefs that will touching every area of your life whether it be relationship issues, anxiety, generalised anxiety, depression, panic attacks, trauma and abuse or childhood issues through to challenges in the work place.
During my time in private practice I have developed a fresh approach to therapeutic intervention that facilitates empowerment, change and freedom from limiting beliefs. The way I work is collaborative, compassionate, inspiring and motivating, all whilst validating your experiences that have brought you here today. My approach includes: Counselling. Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, Parks Inner Child Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, Hypnotherapy, Coaching, CBT, NLP. Not all ways of working are used with each client, it really does depend on what the client needs and this will be discussed together during the initial assessment.
My experience encompasses work with adults and young people on a one to one basis covering a range of issues with the predominance of my work being under the umbrella heading of trauma and abuse. You will appreciate this covers a vast range of experiences around such subjects so contact me should you wish to clarify if I have worked with the issue you are feeling most challenged with at this moment.
My work history includes working on contracts in high schools providing a high quality of psychotherapy for adolescents as well as their families. Being involved in Child in Need and Child Protection plans, MAST meetings etc I also work with Employment Assisted Programmes and STAR (Surviving Trauma After Rape) as well as solicitors of personal injury claims. I work on a contract basis with large corporate companies to deliver psychotherapy alongside their Occupational Health Departments.
I see people in private practice that approach me on a self referral basis with a wide variety of issues to address as well as taking referrals from other sources.
PLEASE NOTE: Please check your junk mail when contacting me as I reply to every enquiry, if you cant see a reply it will be in your junk mail
There are two main modalities that underpin my work, these are:
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing is a phased treatment approach developed initially by Francine Shapiro (1989). This treatment approach has been extensively researched and has proven an excellent treatment path for trauma of every nature.
When trauma occurs the brain struggles to process the incoming information therefore traumatic events become 'frozen' and it replays as if it as if you are pressing a replay button on a DVD. EMDR can move these frozen memories by activating the brains natural processing abilities with great efficiency. Thus enabling a person to heal effectively overcoming their traumatic experience.
EMDR is quick (compared to other modalities) and safe. Just some of the issues I work with are;
Rape, sexual assault
Kidnap, Hostage situations
Low Self Esteem
Parks Inner Child Therapy
PICT is a powerful and versatile visualisation based 'stand alone' therapy model. It is an evolving form of cognitive therapy with a foundation in Transactional Analysis that incorporates aspects of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) to aid rapid response change. PICT is a relational approach reinforced by contemporary research in neuroscience.
Although PICT was originally created specifically to help people recover from the trauma and damage of sexual, physical, emotional and psychological abuse during childhood the tools within PICT are equally effective for a wide range of trauma issues.
PICT, although a 'talking therapy', is a directional model following a flexible structure always adapted to the client's individual needs. PICT is designed to assist people who have completed the 'unloading' process to move into the process of change work. A PICT therapist can facilitate the of loading process or deliver the PICT process as stand alone.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
