Clare James UKCP Psychotherapist. MSc In Integrative Psychotherapy. EMDR
- I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist with an MSc in Integrative psychotherapy and a fully qualified counsellor and a member of the Metanoia Training Institute.
- I also am an Accredited EMDR Consultant and work with clients who have had acute and chronic traumatic experiences.
- I work with some clients for several weeks, and other clients may need several months and then there are some clients whom I work with for several years.
- I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space, in which you can have an opportunity to reflect upon past and present issues which may be blocking your ability to deal with your daily life.
- I believe that each person carries an amazing wealth of self-knowledge and wisdom and it sometimes needs another person to support them in finding that part of themselves, and that is where the healing lies.
- I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of the healing process and each person brings their own specialness to our work together.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
UK Council for Psychotherapy
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
- I am a Europe EMDR Accredited Consultant. In my practice, I work with many different kinds of Trauma using EMDR, especially PTSD, and Complex Trauma, which is often associated with childhood abuses and neglect of various kinds.
- I also work with clients who have chronic pain or who have developed physical symptoms which do not appear to have a medical cause.
- I also work with clients with Relationship difficulties such as divorce, separation, parenting problems and work-related issues.
- I work with adolescents who are experiencing bullying and stress related to exam performance, and difficult family and peer relationships.
- Anxieties associated with phobias or compulsive behaviours respond well to EMDR interventions too.
- Life change issues and work-related problems and how to manage the intense demands of trying to balance work and personal relationships.
- How to understand what happens to us when we have had a less than 'good enough' parenting and how it impacts upon our adult life and intimate relationships.
- The fee is £70 for 60 minutes
- I accept payment via BACS
- A typed receipt will be given on request.
- A cancellation fee is charged for missed sessions unless 48 hours notice has been given.
- During the initial assessment session, I will give feedback to each client about how I would work with them, and identify the main themes that I believe are causing problems in their present life.
- There would be regular reviews of our work so that we can ensure that I am attending to what each client actually needs.
- If possible I try to offer clients the same appointment slot each week.
- Some clients have to work irregular hours and that is taken into account and a variable appointment system is therefore offered.
- Issues regarding holidays and cancellations are discussed in the initial session and all such relevant information is written out for each client to take away and read.
- I require at least one session to prepare for ending our work.
- Whilst working online via a Professional Zoom portal, I endeavour to offer as high a level of confidentiality as this platform permits, with its 'end to end encryption' but I cannot fully guarantee this, as it is beyond my immediate control.
