                              *********************************

Here’s what I offer & I hope that my skills can match your needs and help you find some peace.

COUPLES THERAPY:

Couples Therapy is for you and your partner when your relationship is feeling stressed, tired or you have lost you way as a couple. This might or might not include psycho-sexual work but often a poor sex life is a signal of something being wrong between you. Clear communication is a good place to start and I hope to help you with this to re-establish intimacy or just to allow you to express your needs to each other. Can’t talk about sex or what you need? Couples therapy might be the way ahead for you. Sessions are 60 mins weekly. We will start with an individual assessment and then follow through with a block of regular "together" sessions & then see what is the best way forward for you both.

PSYCHO-SEXUAL THERAPY:

Psycho-sexual therapy is a no-touch approach for relational issues. It is a specialist area of therapy which requires specific advanced training. I can offer this to you. P-S therapy looks at issues of past childhood abuse, gender & identity; issues relating to underlying / past experiences that might be affecting your present sex life, sexuality or relationships. For example:  marital / relational issues, infertility, separation and divorce, emotional & communication issues; sexual functioning, performance and needs, sexual identity & experience. I can also work with you if you are struggling with the results of sexual trauma or abuse. I hold a specialist 2 year training & qualification (PG. Dip) in this area and am an accredited member of COSRT. See my website for more details.

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY: I can work with you as an individual to explore issues such as stress & anxiety, loss & bereavement, depression, and/or a whole range of sexual and relational issues. I have a lot of experience of working with trauma of various types including trauma caused from relational abuse, accidents or past experiences.

I am happy to work with people with or without a spiritual orientation and also those from the LGBTQ community.

ABOUT ME:

I am a highly qualified and very experienced clinical practitioner, trainer. and supervisor, a UKCP  Integrative Psychotherapist  with an MSc & a BA, +Post Grad qualifications & ongoing training in advanced trauma work. I also hold senior accreditation with BACP as well as being COSRT accredited -the psycho-sexual therapists’ professional body.

Originally a teacher, I now work as a private Psychotherapist / Counsellor / Clinical Supervisor/ Trainer. As a senior practitioner and, until recently, a lecturer on a  Counselling degree course. As well as therapy I enjoy running short counselling courses & helping supervise new counsellors, trainees & psychotherapists

I have had many years’ experience of working with a variety of people & age groups in many contexts including cross-cultural.  My experiences of juggling the demands of being a mum, wife, teacher and a student as well as my own journey of self -discovery have helped me appreciate many aspects of the complexities of life. I enjoy travel, photography and coffee with friends.

ABOUT MY APPROACH: I enjoy working with people and so my style is relational. I work with an Integrative model which means that I see the individual as a whole being and that our emotions, body and thoughts (including our spirituality) are complex and interlinked and so work with that in mind. I aim to work in line with your needs and I believe that a good relationship between us will facilitate the changes you are looking for. Whilst I wont be giving you all the answers to your issues I hope to support you as we explore your situation and find creative ways to help you find clarity & move forwards.

ABOUT WHERE I WORK: Hurrah! I'm very happy to be able to offer F2F  sessions at last~ although only one day a week at present .The rest of the week remains online .This  also has its advantages for you in that it can be so much easier to arrange a suitable time for your regular session. Whichever way you wish to work, please take care &   your therapists carefully checking out their approach,  qualification etc  so that they suit you!!

My preference, as a Psychotherapist , is to work longer term  (10+ sessions) as that gives me a chance to get to know you well and for you to really tackle some of those deep and disturbing experiences from the past as they affect you now in your current life and relationships. I expect to work consistently & regularly so will meet with you weekly - as far as is possible.

CONTACT ME: Do check out my website for more information if you are interested in my approach. I would love to hear from you so please feel free to phone text or email to arrange an Initial Assessment.

An Initial Assessment is a "stand alone" session arranged at your convenience and lasts about an hour during which time you can talk through your issue and we can assess your needs together. If we "click" and feel that we can work together then we can plan further sessions and a way ahead.

Sessions Available:

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday  11.30- 8pm    ONLINE.                                        FRIDAYS   10am-    face to face

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

COSRT
College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT)

COSRT is the UK’s leading membership organisation for therapists specialising in sexual and relationship issues.

All members must abide by their Code of Ethics and the performance of accredited members is regularly monitored.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
