About me

I offer affordable counselling for problems that cause anxiety or depression. Are you suffering from stress? A loss or bereavement? Or an Eating Disorder that is ruling your life?

About me:

I have worked for over thirty five years in various areas of Mental Health, Physical Disability, Palliative Care and Eating Disorders. I now feel privileged to work in the area of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I qualified at the University of Central Lancashire as a Person Centred Counsellor and continued my professional development with The National Centre for Eating Disorders (UK's largest independent eating disorder service) where I trained for the Master Practitioner Programme. I now work using a wide range of evidence based psychological therapies for general Counselling, addressing all stress related issues, addictions, bereavement and Eating Disorders.

About Counselling:

There may be difficult times when counselling can provide a safe, relaxed space to find a way to make sense of life and all that it may bring. Are you struggling to cope with a significant life change? Is your past life experience impacting on your present? Counselling can help you discover the strength to overcome the issues that prevent you from living the life you want to lead. Counselling may develop an increase in awareness of how we relate to ourselves, also how we relate to others, and improve our emotional intelligence by understanding our thoughts, feelings, and why we may behave in certain ways.
For me, I would describe Counselling as a journey of inner discovery and is worth a lot more than an accumulation of information and facts - because counselling is learning that 'makes a difference' to a persons happiness and well being, that makes a difference to their behaviour and attitudes, and in coping with life more comfortably. Consequently, it is important to find the right therapist whom you can feel safe and can trust with this very unique relationship.

Please feel free to contact me for a confidential assessment either by email, or for eating disorder clients, visit my website - Or telephone me if you would like further information regarding my services.

Counselling for Eating Disorders:

I am an affiliate Practitioner of The National Centre for Eating Disorders (Approved by the British Psychological Society), where I qualified for the Master Practitioner Programme. I use a Cognitive Behavioural approach with all Eating Disorders.
I work with all types of Eating Disorders including Bulimia Nervosa, Anorexia Nervosa, Binge Eating, Failed Dieting and Orthorexia. I acknowledge both the physical and emotional factors of eating distress and work towards gaining a more healthy relationship with food. Working together, the physical effects of your problem will be addressed, leading on to discovering the nature of your problem emotionally. It will address all issues that cause concern surrounding food, weight, and body image. Its aim will be to help you gain control of your problems related to eating, and to experience the freedom from obsessional thoughts and behaviours that causes distress and unhappiness.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

As a contributor to "Free Minds" I also work as an 'Exit Counsellor' - offering help for people who have been negatively impacted, and who are struggling with issues of loss after leaving mind controlling, destructive groups or cults. Issues may involve loss of family or friends (possibly due to the cult's policy on shunning ex members), a persons whole belief system, and self esteem. Dealing with, and understanding the huge void and feelings of isolation that leaving may affect the persons whole sense of self and their identity.

Exit Counselling provides recovery, support and information (on the nature of mind control theory), for those who are coming out and are struggling to regain their lives.

Please note:

The intention of Exit Counselling is not to criticize active members but rather to support members who are going through the exit process.
