Would you like to feel better than you do?
Would you like to resolve some of the things you are struggling with right now?
Whatever your situation, counselling can help.
Having been a client myself, I'm very aware of how daunting it can be to make that initial call - it took me years to make it. But I also know, first hand, just how worthwhile it can be. That's why I trained as a counsellor: to give back something of what I'd received.
What I offer
I aim to offer a warm, professional counselling serve individually tailored to your particular need and circumstances. Some of the common things that bring a client to counselling include:
- anxiety, worry and feeling stressed
- depression, having a low mood or feeling sad much of the time
- family issues and child related issues
- relationship issues
- affairs and betrayals
- separation and divorce
- trauma and abuse (past or present)
- sexual difficulties (of all kinds)
I have more than ten years experience as a counsellor and have helped over 700 clients move forward in their lives. So, don't worry if your particular issue's not on this list. Every client is unique and I will tailor my service to meet your particular needs. While some of the difficulties clients bring may be similar, no two people are alike.
Some clients bring long-standing concerns, others may want to take about recent events or something that are finding challenging right now. Some know exactly what they want to talk about but many just have a sense that something is not quite right in their life, even if they don't know what it is. Whatever your situation, counselling can make a massive difference.
Who I work with
Over the past ten plus years, I have gained thousands of hours of experience working with adults and children, individuals, couples and family groups. My clients have come from all walks of life and ranged from 8 to over 80 years of age!
How I work
The important thing in counselling is the relationship you have with your counsellor. I will do all I can to give you a safe, non-judgemental space in which you can explore things at your own pace.
In addition to talking therapies, I can offer creative work, sand tray or other expressive approaches to counselling. These can be massively helpful where it's difficult, if not impossible, to express your thoughts and feelings in words, or where you just don't know what's wrong.
However we choose to work, I will never pressure you to talk about anything you don't want to or make you do anything you're not ready for. It's your counselling: you set the pace. I will do my best to walk alongside you, offering the best possible service, tailored for you.
Maybe now is the time for you to act. If you'd like to arrange an appointment, or just want to talk though your needs, why not call me on 0776 011 6985 or drop me an email? I'd love to see you and can usually offer an appointment within a day or two.

My normal session fee is £50 for individuals, £60 for couples counselling, with discounts available to the unwaged and those in financial hardship.
I strive to ensure that no one is denied access to counselling on the basis of cost, therefore my rates are negotiable, depending on individual circumstances. I will not ask for details of your financial position but will take it on trust that you will pay what you can reasonably afford. Unfortunately, it's not possible to offer concessionary rates in Liverpool centre.
Should you decide not to continue beyond the first session, no charge would be made. This gives you an opportunity to explore what counselling may offer you, without any financial commitment. Special rates are available to counselling students attending counselling as part of their qualification.
EAP and similar referrals are charged at £60 per session, £65 for an assessment and report.
I'm a senior accredited member of the National Counselling Society and operate within their professional guidelines. I'm fully insured and have a recent CRB/DBS (Police) check.
Daytime, evening and limited weekend appointments are available. While I normally see clients in person here in Waterloo I would be willing to consider other options, including home visits and counselling by phone or Skype, according to individual circumstances. I am also able to offer sessions in Liverpool centre. This location does provide disabled access but, regrettably, cannot be offered at a reduced rate.
As my premises in Waterloo do not afford disabled access I can arrange to see clients with mobility issues elsewhere, on request. If you need wheelchair access or have other specific needs, please let me know when booking an appointment.
I realise the sessions I have had have not been a 'magic fix' of my problems, but I had reached a point where I was very concerned about my emotional state. I now feel calmer and more able to carry out day-to-day commitments and feel I will be able to recover.
I feel that talking to David has considerably helped how I judge things and how I feel about myself in general.
Excellent - It has helped me so much with coming to terms with the loss of my partner.
I am grateful to my counsellor, he has took his time and listened to me and been very patient.
I found Dave very easy to talk to. He is calm and measured, a very good listener who does not judge. He makes constructive suggestions in a gentle and encouraging way. Thank you.
Just talking about it in general has helped in many ways, I find it helps a lot to vocalise my problems rather than thinking about them.
This is my first experience of counselling and I have found it to be very positive.
David was a great listener and asked the most thought provoking questions which helped me to put things into perspective, I'm just sorry I didn't meet him sooner.
I have found the service excellent and life-changing. Thank you.
One of the best decisions I've made and fully appreciate the advice from Dave
