About me

I am an Accredited Psychosexual, an Accredited Trauma Specialist (EMDR UK) and an Accredited CBT Therapist working online through Zoom these days with adult couples or individuals of any sexual orientation, in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.

I work Integratively with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic and Systemic theories, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) for trauma cases, be that Interpersonal trauma or a single life changing event. This means we generate insights from a client's background, think about how past has affected present day, and then strategically work out how to fix the underlying issues emerging in a focused way.

Work is either on a short or long term basis dependent on the clients goals. Immediate life circumstances may be explored or 'deeper' issues addressed as required, but always with the goal of changing negative patterns and introducing healthier behaviours going forward. This may include communication styles, working with self esteem, anxieties (Generalised anxiety disorder and OCD included), alleviating Panic attacks, and a client's ability to really connect with themselves and the world. COVID has obviously created new anxieties of it's own and many clients have depression that is resultant from this.

If it is Psychosexual treatment that is required, plans are tailored to the clients needs and work is highly educative, allaying fears and anxieties around performance, unrealistic expectations and misguided thoughts. I specialise in Sexual Addiction work both for the addict and their partner, which if committed to, is treatable. Any behavioural/sexual tasks are carried out in the client's home, never in the consulting room. I also work with teenagers presenting with sexual issues as there appears to few a gap in NHS services to manage this. I am DRB checked as a result.

We look to do more than manage, but fix the problem, and I am proud of my success rate with clients in achieving their goals, currently standing at 95%.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have around twenty years of ongoing professional training and development and clinical (client) practice.
I am in private practice based in Leicester, offering daytime and evening appointments, via Zoom, now nationwide and overseas. I also work in conjunction with WPA, AVIVA and AXA Healthcare and am available on their Professional Registers should you have their healthcare insurance. I previously worked at the Leicester Counselling Centre on Victoria Park and at Relate Leicestershire.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

COSRT
College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT)

COSRT is the UK’s leading membership organisation for therapists specialising in sexual and relationship issues.

All members must abide by their Code of Ethics and the performance of accredited members is regularly monitored.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
