Carolyn Burnett- Counselling & Psychotherapy-Adults
Hello and welcome to my site, I do hope I can be of help to you.
In this challenging time with concerns about corona virus and its impact, it is wise not to meet with therapists face to face. This is the current professional advice. However, it is appropriate to try to adapt to our limitations wherever possible. Do feel free to contact me to use online resources. I have found this equally useful and you may need some extra support over this time.
I work either in short term counselling or longer term psychotherapy guided by your needs
I am an experienced therapist offering a safe, quiet and comfortable environment, and time and space to think about what you want help with.
I have trained in a number of different therapeutic approaches and am focused but flexible in my way of working. I would be guided by your needs and what you are hoping for in attending for therapy.
I believe I could be helpful to you in finding what you need in order to feel, think and behave in a more satisfying way and in nurturing your self, your relationships and your sense of belonging.
I have 30 years experience working in the mental health field with a wide range of issues. I can help you to understand your problem in the here and now, through careful consideration of past experiences, influences and your relationships. The focus is on strengthening your present state of mind.
Exploring this safely and calmly is so important in establishing a helpful, trusting and working relationship and in being able to find useful current solutions.
I can listen, guide, ask thoughtful questions to stimulate insight, advise where appropriate and offer resources that will strengthen your ability to manage your emotions better in the present and feel more hopeful about the future.
I have counselling experience in a wide range of problem and symptom areas and you are welcome to contact me regarding any, for further discussion about what would be most useful.
My Psychotherapy specialism is in acute and chronic Trauma experiences using EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. This is a highly effective and evidence based model that addresses both single incident and historical trauma and its consequences on your overall physical, emotional, relational and psychological well being.
I offer therapeutic help with:

Are you just wanting to talk through a dilemma with someone outside your social network, or is it a problem that you need help with?
It can be hard to seek professional help, but the first step is to acknowledge the need for help. You are welcome to contact me to discuss what is on your mind without commitment to attend for therapy.
