About me

Specialist relationship, couple and psychosexual psychotherapist

I offer individual and couples face-to-face (London/Kent) or online therapy (UK-wide) with over 17 years of experience in private practice and the NHS. I am a member of the BACP (MBACP) and an accredited member of the College of Sex and Relationship Therapists (COSRT). I have completed both an MA, Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, Post Graduate Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy.

As Associate Director of the London Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy and Course Director of the Naos Institute's Advanced Couples Diploma, I help train the next generation of specialist therapists.

Working with a qualified therapist can help you gain insight and control, move forward and grow. Together we can work towards solutions when you feel stuck, unhappy or are in crisis or simply want to explore an issue in your life.

I have experience working within the NHS and charitable organisations as a psychotherapist and psychosexual/relationship therapist including Whipps Cross University Hospital and Chelsea and Westminister Hospital (56 Dean Street sexual health clinic).

I have trained with the Couples Institute (USA) for one year under its founder Dr Ellyn Bader Phd author of 'In Quest For The Mythical Mate' and 'Tell Me No Lies'. The institute takes a developmental approach to relationship work drawing on different therapeutic approaches. I was with the Institute for a number of years and now train at the advanced level.

I have two practice locations:

Central London W1: Located in central London and well served by public transport. Stations nearby include Goodge Street (6 mins), Oxford Circus (8 mins) Tottenham Court Road (8 mins), Great Portland Street (10 mins), Warren Street (11 mins). The area is within easy reach of the West End, Soho, Euston, Bloomsbury, Kings Cross and The City.

Kent CT5: On the north Kent coast in Whitstable and just over an hours drive or rail journey from London.
I am located just a 5 minutes walk from Whitstable train station, the harbour and town centre. There is dedicated parking if coming by car. Whitstable is well served by local buses, rail and road and so is easily accessible from Canterbury, Herne Bay, Faversham and the rest of Kent.

Online: I offer online appointments to clients across the UK using Zoom.

I take an integrative approach that incorporates a number of therapeutic schools of thought, including humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) in a therapeutic plan designed to meet your needs. The therapeutic relationship is boundaried, confidential and non-judgmental and is the basis from which I will facilitate a process for you to explore your situation and bring about change if necessary. This is done through support, empathy, challenge, analysis and interpretation. This may involve looking at the impact of your past and present circumstances. The process will increase your awareness of, and responsibility for your situation, which will give you choice and enable you to shift your situation while working through any defences and resistance to change. You will be free to explore thoughts and feelings, positive or negative, and use the relationship to explore your authentic self without danger of rejection from myself.

Clinical Supervision
In addition, I work as a Clinical Supervisor offering specialist supervision to psychotherapists and counsellors. I have a Diploma in Individual and Group Supervision. I hope to add value to and support therapists professional development. If you are a counsellor or psychotherapist looking for supervision, please feel free to contact me. I supervise therapists privately, at the mental health charity MIND and trainee counsellors at the University of East London. As well as general supervision, I can offer supervision to counsellors and therapists working with couples, clients with relationship diversity and psychosexual issues.

Member organisations

school Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

COSRT
College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT)

COSRT is the UK’s leading membership organisation for therapists specialising in sexual and relationship issues.

All members must abide by their Code of Ethics and the performance of accredited members is regularly monitored.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair user access info
Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
