Claire Duranthon MBACP
I am a BACP Accredited Psychodynamic Counsellor with many years experience of working within a long and short term Primary Care Trust Counselling Service. I presently work in Private Practice where I provide individual therapy to clients experiencing deep-seated distress and emotional pain. Your reason for contacting me may relate to relationship issues: separation, divorce, an affair; or difficulties with work relationships. Perhaps depression or anxiety are making you feel unable to live life fully.
As a Psychodynamic Counsellor I seek understanding and meaning in symptoms and patterns of behaviour. I provide a regular time and a confidential setting in which to explore the difficulties that may be leaving you feeling quite stuck. I will work with you to facilitate insight and understanding, by looking at both the past and present. Insight is the mechanism that can lead to the relief of symptoms. An aim of Psychodynamic Counselling is to reduce symptoms and alleviate suffering. This takes time and regular sessions. Your relationship to me as your counsellor is at the centre of the process and establishing a trusting relationship is key. Together in your sessions, we can find ways to resolve the difficulties and cope with them better with greater self-understanding.
We can initially meet for a consultation where you can tell me about yourself and what led you to take this step of seeking help. It also gives you an opportunity to meet with me and to see if I am the Counsellor you feel comfortable working with.
Please call me on 07932 954702 or email me.
