"Is psychotherapy for me?" might be a question you have asked yourself. If you are suffering from anxiety, or depression or have relationship issues, then perhaps, now might be a good time to find out. I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist with over 25 years' experience. I also trained as an integrative counsellor. My approach, built up over several years, is to apply what is appropriate for each person (including CBT) from the wide range of psychological models available. In the main, I aim to help people make sense of disparate parts of their lives. My approach enables sessions which are focussed and defined from the outset. Among the issues that I am experiencd and interested in are relationship problems, anxiety, depression, bereavement, trauma, abuse, self esteem, cultural differences and work related difficulties. I provide a calm and peaceful setting within which we can work on what it is that distresses you.
I have worked extensively within the NHS as well as in private practice. I am based in Esher, Surrey, within walking distance of bus and train connections and there is parking available. I offer short term therapy only.
Training, qualifications & experience
Diploma in Integrative Counselling - Kingston College - 1997
Integrative counselling provides a grounding in five main models of psychotherapy including the grandaddy of them all - psychoanalytic psychotherapy. This training was invaluable because it incorporated spiritual and humanistic aspects as well.
MSc Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy - University College London/Nafsiyat - 2000
Borrowing from the social sciences, cultural studies and anthropoligy this training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy provided the context within which we seek to make meaning of our lives. Seeking therapy often springs from our personal inner conflicts. Sometimes these are rooted in our early lives. Or it may be things that have happened recenly. Many roads lead to the goal of living fully and with meaning.
I provide short term therapy.
