Jayne Briggs MBACP Accredited, BSc (Hons) Therapeutic Couns. Cert. Couple Couns.
About me
Seeking professional help when faced with a personnel dilemma can be quite overwhelming. Since the onset of the pandemic I have been forced to give up my therapy room and I now offer online counselling via telephone, Skype, FaceTime or WhatsApp. I will consider a home visit only if the person is blind or disabled in such a way that they find it difficult to use a phone or a computer. Clients are encouraged to find a safe space in their home or office environment to take the calls without being disturbed by pets or family members.
As a qualified accredited Counsellor, in person centred theory and integrative counselling, I am a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), and work to their ethical framework. Therefore, I sometimes integrate other theories into my counselling practice, such as RET (Rational Emotive Therapy) which is a cognitive behavioural approach, transactional analysis and some gestalt. As an accredited qualified EFT (emotional freedom technique) practitioner, I sometimes integrate EFT into my therapy practice to help clients deal with PTSD, Confidence issues, pain management, stress and anxiety. I offer other techniques too, such as visualisation and relaxation therapy.
I also provide Couple counselling and counselling supervision. In severe circumstances where a client may be housebound due to a severe disability, I may consider a home visit.
As a qualifed Counselling Supervisor, through the Open College. I offer supervision to student counsellors and qualified counsellors who deal with clients with various issues and difficulties.
Clients who have sought out my services have come to me with all sorts of issues, some of which include, abuse, bereavement/loss, confidence issues, depression and anxiety, domestic violence, eating disorders, divorce or separation, bullying in the workplace, and family issues to name a few.
In addition to providing Counselling, I am also a qualified Life Coach, (AAMET) Accredited EFT Practitioner, Stress Management Trainer, and a qualified Level 3 Reiki Master in Usui Shiko Ryoho Reiki Healing.
EFT has helped some of my clients overcome addictions, phobias, PTSD, overcome confidence issues, and deal with weight management issues. EFT has Also been effective in helping some clients suffering with painful conditions such as Fybromyalgia and Arthritis.
"I had some counselling because I was feeling trapped, depressed and hopeless. From the beginning Jayne was a source of comfort and support which helped me to develop my own security and strength. I feel completely different in just 6 weeks and would highly recomend Jayne to anyone who has been struggling for a long time and who thinks there is no one who can help or understand. I now feel more confident, more in control of my life, and have developed a more positive and rational approach to problems. I am so much happier." MS, Sheffield

People seeking Counselling therapy simply want a safe place to be heard and be given the opportunity to offload their problems without being judged or criticized. Others, prefer to be challenged and I often find that introducing RET (Rational Emotive Therapy), helps them to tackle limiting beliefs and self defeating behaviour patterns, which have stopped them from being able to communicate more effectively, and build successful relationships.
Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
