Alison Dowdeswell, BACP (Reg) Psychotherapy/Counselling/Supervision
Thank you for visiting me at the counselling directory today. Let me first say no matter what the issues may be there is always a way forward for you and it is my job to try and help you find that. Life throws many curved balls at us and it is natural to feel overwhelmed at times by our circumstances.
Friends and family may be a great source of support but they don't always have the time or energy to be there for us, in the way we would like. Maybe some of the things we want to talk about feel too private. Sometimes we don't even know where to begin, because things feel so complex. This is where a good therapist can by be enormously beneficial enabling us to find our own solutions in a confidential, supportive but objective relationship. This is something that, at times, friends and family cannot offer. They are just too involved.
What can I offer you
I offer psychotherapy/counselling, coaching and supervision. Supportive and caring I have worked for over thirty years in community mental health and private practice the latter covering both long and short term work with a range of isssues. These include:
employment and organizational issues
I work from a relational, existential perspective which means I see your personal experience as central to and informing our work together. I aim to enable you to be more at ease with yourself and the world you live in, so developing inner confidence and your own expert self. I hope to increase your understanding of self and others so that the choices you make in life work more effectively for you.
I am a registered member of BACP and work to their code of ethics.
For supervisees I use the Shohet and Hawkins seven eyed model. I work relationally from a holistic, existential philosophy and also use the systemic approach. Please contact me to discuss matters further. I offer a free initial consultation for this.
My fees privately are £45.00 per hour.
I work face to face, by Skype, email and telephone
