Karen Minikin MSc CTA (P) TSTA UKCP Reg
I am a psychotherapist accredited with UKCP and a visiting trainer of counselling and psychotherapy at a number of training institutes. I provide individual and group supervision for counsellors and psychotherapists.
When clients first come, I focus primarily on understanding what is causing difficulty and seeing if I might be somebody who the client can communicate with and relate to. This is important in building trust between us. In terms of my experience, I work with many conditions, including depression, anxiety, loss, relationship difficulties, trauma and identity such as cultural, racial and sexual identities. In my approach, I draw on transactional analysis and psychoanalytical ideas using them relationally.

Areas of counselling I deal with
I have also worked as an organisational development consultant for fifteen years, prior to that I was a customer and management trainer for an airline and a secondary school teacher. Drawing on this experience means, I have an understanding of the challenges and potential conflicts facing people in organisations that can lead to work related stress and reactive depression.
