About me
Hello, I hope that I can provide a service that will support you. I believe that I have the experience to offer you a safe relationship in which you can explore anything that is troubling you. I will listen carefully to your experiences, without judging you, and I will assist you in making the changes that you want. I never tell people what to do, but I am happy to make suggestions if you feel this would be helpful.
I have had a long career in the caring professions, and for the last twenty years I have been a counsellor. As a senior counsellor in primary care I provided counselling for adults in the NHS, and I have a lot of experience of working with young people.
My clients come from a wide variety of backgrounds and include people who have found it difficult to find appropriate counselling. I have worked successfully with both men and women, people who have different cultural backgrounds, and people who have different sexualities. I am happy to provide a long term relationship for you if you wish to explore deep-rooted issues in your life, and I can also offer more focussed work on issues such as depression, anxiety, relationships, bereavement anger, eating disorders and substance misuse.
I shall do my best to work with whatever issues bring you to counselling ( If for any reason I feel that I can not, I shall be honest with you, and provide you with information about other services).
I am based near the centre of Sheffield.

Member organisations
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
