I am an accredited Counsellor and Supervisor with extensive experience working with individuals,couples and children and young people. I offer a private,confidential and ethical space where you and your experiences will be respected, listened to and supported. If I feel I am not the right person to work with you,I will talk to you about this and assist you in finding the right place to meet your needs.
My practice is rooted in the Person-Centred approach which means that I believe that the quality of the relationship between myself and my client is the key factor in helping you make better sense of your feelings and experiences and in helping you develop the internal resources to live the life that you wish to lead.My approach is relational and flexible but I may draw on a range of models and approaches from my training and experience which may help in understanding your emotional history,relationships,the issues you are experiencing and the ways in which they are impacting on your life.
I have experience of delivering Cognitive Behavioural and Experiential therapy to clients with anxiety and depression and in working in short term focused ways with Employment Assistance Programmes.I also have extensive experience counselling in hospices and therefore have particular expertise in working with loss and grief in all its forms. Finally ,I have additional training and interest in Mindfulness .
I am based in Holmfirth which is very close to Huddersfield and also has good road links with Calderdale,North Manchester and the M62 network. My fee is £45 for a session. Training, qualifications & experience
My background and training was initially in teaching and working with children with special needs and I have a long standing interest in working with children and young people.I also have over 20 years experience working on Community Education projects and lecturing in Further and Higher education.This includes previous work as a Programme Manager on Diploma and B.A. in Counselling courses and ongoing teaching work on counselling and psychology courses for the Open University.
My counselling experience has taken place in a range of therapeutic settings including delivering counselling and co-ordinating counselling services within community based counselling agencies, in organisational settings, within the NHS and within schools. My most recent role was to set up and co-ordinate a counselling service within a hospice to meet the needs of patients, families and staff. Due to this experience I have considerable experience of both working therapeutically and delivering supervision in a range of contexts as well as in teaching and training counsellors.
I am a fully qualified, experienced and accredited member of the British Association For Counsellors and Psychotherapists and work within their ethical framework. My private practice is well established with links with Employment Assistant Programmes and Occupational Health Schemes.

Supervision & training
I trained as a supervisor at Temenos in Sheffield and now have a lot of experience supervising counsellors in a range of contexts, both on a one to one basis, as well as offering group supervision within organisations. As a supervisor in private practice, my experience has also been extended through supervising counsellors and practitioners who use a range of therapeutic models and approaches and who work in very different contexts.
