Gill Whalley; Accredited Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Supervisor. MBACP
Hello, my name is Gill and I am a experienced and accredited Counsellor and Supervisor who has worked for 20 years with individuals, couples and young people. People come to therapy for many different reasons but for everyone it provides an opportunity to look at things in their life and to find more satisfying and helpful ways of living .My job as a therapist is to help you understand what it is you want from therapy and the best way I can work with you to help you take those steps. I offer a private, confidential and ethical service where you and your experiences will be respected, listened to and supported.
My approach to therapy is flexible and personalised as different people are helped in different ways. My practice is rooted in ways of working which believe that the quality of the relationship between myself and my client is a key factor in helping you make make the best use of your experience and understanding and in helping you develop the internal resources to move forward. I try to be flexible however in responding to what you need from therapy and in working in ways which are right for you. I may draw on a range of models and approaches from my training which may also help you in changing your behaviour or in understanding the feelings, relationships and the issues you are experiencing .
I have extensive experience working in hospices and within the NHS and therefore I have particular expertise in working with bereavement and loss and grief in all its forms. I have also specialised in working with trauma and anxiety. I work on an independent basis with Employee Assistance programmes and I therefore have a lot of experience working in short term ways with clients struggling with a range of work related issues and anxiety.
I am based in Holmfirth which is very close to Huddersfield and also has good road links with Calderdale ,North Manchester and the M62 network. My fee is £50 for a session .In the current circumstances I also offer telephone and video counselling . Please email me to arrange a telephone chat where you can ask any questions and we can informally discuss your needs.
I am a qualified and experienced supervisor and also provide supervision to counsellors and therapists who work in a range of settings. Please contact me if you would like to talk about your supervision needs.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
