Erika Klemperer MBACP (Accred), BPC
I am a fully qualified counsellor, psychodynamic psychotherapist and Jungian analyst with a private practice in Golders Green and London Bridge offering both short and long term therapy. I base my counselling on recognising your potential and working with you to develop yourself fully.
I offer a quiet and secure environment where you can talk about whatever is on your mind.
Through our relationship you are helped to gain self awareness and greater inner freedom. We may look at your very early relationships and see how those emotional patterns might be unconsciously affecting your present relationships. However, it is important to me that we work at a pace and in a way that feels right to you. I have used my training to deepen my ability to listen, hold professional boundaries and to work with you as the unique individual that you are.
Recent client have contacted me to help them:
to have better relationships
to feel less depressed
manage life with less anxiety
to be able to accept the choices they make
see why they repeat unhelpful behaviours
have greater self-esteem
deal with anger and conflict in a better way
find more satisfaction in their life
help them with stress
Coming to therapy can seem daunting, but it marks a positive step that you are willing to take in order to make a change in your life.
How exactly do I help you to explore your concerns?
I became a Jungian Analyst because I find great benefit in working with patients on a more intensive basis. Analytic work allows us to move together into deeper levels or of awareness which aren't easily accessed otherwise. In doing so, there is an opportunity for the client to come to understand the complexity of him or herself, to open up the relationship to the analyst as a mirror to how other relationships are dealt with and to find greater self understanding. The process of understanding can lead to an inner freedom which can affect the patient's relationship to the outside world.
In other words intensive work can lead to a more fundamental understanding of the self. Areas which have been previously unconscious, protected and unavailable, are made visible and are thus open to change. It is impossible to pin the experience of analysis down to words. It is ultimately a relationship, a lived experience, a feeling of being really understood, for many, for the first time.
What should I expect from our first session?
Our first session is an opportunity to meet and see if we could work well together. We can explore any questions you may have or problems that brought you here. In this session as in subsequent ones, you are free to speak about whatever is on your mind.
As well as a trained therapist, I have a background in classical music that I feel enhances my ability to 'tune in' and listen to you intuitively.
Following on from our first session, I offer what I call ‘Counselling Plus’. In other words, through my training, I can adjust to your needs, be it counselling for a limited number of sessions to work on a certain issue, longer term psychotherapy where we have weekly sessions, or more intensive analytic work that can involve meeting several times a week.
