About me

I am an experienced, caring counsellor and I offer a safe environment to work through your issues. I have a private therapy room in my own home.

It is important to find the right relationship for you, so come and see if you feel comfortable.

I have 18 years of a broad range of post qualification experience, working with many clients from varying backgrounds and cultures. I work with adults 1-1 and couples. I also see young people from 12 years.  I am BACP accredited.

In times of stress, life can overwhelming. It may be hard to cope when problems such as depression, anger, anxiety, difficulty with social situations or work related issues keep reappearing in our lives.

My approach is integrative. There are different styles of counselling and I choose the style which seems most appropriate to the client at that time. I always begin by taking time to care for the client and understand his/her issues. This often develops into helping the client to understand family history or how the situation came about.

I believe that we all have the ability to change and grow. I can support you to make choices and changes by listening in an environment which is caring and non-judgmental.

I also have training and experience in working with CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). I use CBT when it feels appropriate to do so.

I have a flexible approach to the number of sessions. Usually we would work together on a weekly basis but as you begin to feel better we might agree to move to fortnightly appointments.

I have daytime and evening appointments. I usually work face-to-face, with individuals, couples and young people 12+. Occasionally I have been asked for a telephone appointment.

Some of the issues I have worked with are:
Work related issues, bullying, self-harming, confidence and self-esteem, bereavement, stress related symptoms, anxiety, panic attacks, life crisis, eating disorders, anger, sexual, physical and emotional abuse, trauma and relationship difficulties.

I have regular supervision with a qualified supervisor (in line with BACP ethical guidelines) and I share in a peer supervision group.

And a bit about me.  I chose this road partly because of its quiet location. There is space in the road for parking.

I am married, with three grown up children who have all left home now.  I taught in schools at one time, and then at a college, teaching adults.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
