I am a qualified, professional and experienced therapist in private practice in Totnes and Torbay, offering counselling, psychotherapy and supervision. I offer a confidential and personally tailored service, integrating a variety of approaches including Sand Play Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Solution-Focused Therapy, Transpersonal Psychology, Creative Visualisation, CBT, [Cognitive Behavioural Therapy], and the Emotional Freedom Technique.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and am bound by its code of ethics and practice, regularly receiving supervision from a qualified and experienced supervisor. I also access continuing professional and personal development as part of my commitment to providing an excellent service to my clients.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained at the prestigious Iron Mill Institute in Exeter, gaining an advanced diploma in counselling in January 2002. More recently I trained in supervision, qualifying as a counselling supervisor in 2007.
I have been counselling since 2001, both in private practice, with all age groups, including being part of a pioneering scheme to offer emotional support to carers in Torbay; and also part-time, helping to co-ordinate a team of counsellors in a local young people's support service.
More recently I have begun offering supervision to counsellors, both in private practice and for Check Point in Torquay.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I believe that everyone has the resources to explore and resolve their own particular issues, given a sufficiently supportive, compassionate and empathic environment. They can thereby regain inner strength and direction, to develop a healthier life at all levels: physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual.
