About me

I am an Integrative Counsellor; This means that I work using different approaches and interventions, rather than in one specific way. I am person centred in my approach and although people can have very similar events we all have unique perspectives and experiences..

I am able to encourage exploration in how we relate to others, our environment and importantly, the relationship we have with our 'self'.

I am able to provide a safe and confidential space, in which to encourage self-awareness and to look at how experiences or relationships in the past can affect the present and future.

Sometimes, life can be challenging and talk therapy is useful in recognising coping strategies and new perspectives. It can also feel a bit scary and this could be something to explore too.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been practising for over 17 years and I have met with a diversity of clients, with varying presenting problems or underlying issues and maintain a respect for uniqueness.

I have a Certificate in Counselling Skills, a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Studies and an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling.

I have attended numerous courses, including Mental Health, Alcohol and Substance abuse, Domestic Violence (I have facilitated the Freedom Programme, supporting groups of survivors, as well as on a one to one basis) and other relevant professional development training. I also have a commitment to personal development, meaning I am continuously learning and growing.

I am a member of The B.A.C.P, adhering to their Code Of Ethics

I am also qualified to work with couples and have had 5 years experience with Relate, post training with them.

I have worked in a G.P surgery, a prison, charities and privately

I undertake regular supervision, whereby I discuss my work and receive support where needed, to offer the best service that I can. Supervision is also confidential and a person's identity is not exposed.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
