Susan Beaney (MBACP, UKCP)
You may have found yourself in a crisis, or struggling to understand your thoughts and emotions. Whatever has bought you to my profile I want to assure you that by working together we can ensure you overcome these feelings.
I work with individuals and couples, I have experience of working with a very wide range of different emotions, thoughts and situations from anger management to sexuality and depression. I specialise in recovery from childhood and domestic abuse, and sexual assault. I also have a particular interest in recovering from offending behaviour.
Having trained originally in the USA in 1982 and later with the Sexual Assault Centre, Crawley, I offer specialist rape counselling in Hastings and St Leonard's. I am happy to receive enquiries about the process, which will differ slightly from other forms of counselling if there are to be legal proceedings.
My most recent training has been with StopSO, an organisation specialising in working with clients who have committed sexual offences.
How I Work
I am an existentially trained therapist. This means that my work is based on the idea that within each of us the ability to be fully fulfilled with our lives. Existential therapy is a unique form of psychotherapy that looks to explore difficulties from a philosophical perspective, rather than taking a technique-based approach.
Where I Work From
I work from a dedicated room in my own home where there is ample parking as well as being close to bus and train stations. In addition to working with adults I provide therapy for children, young people and couples.
There is easy parking available.
Groups for those wanting to move forward from depression or relationship breakdown are held on Thursday evening or Friday afternoon. Come and experience being supported by sharing your experiences with others in a safe and peaceful environment whilst learning tools to help you regain confidence and self-esteem.
Training, qualifications & experience
My primary qualification is in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling, in which I hold both a postgraduate diploma and a Masters Degree. I use various other counselling disciplines in my practice, including gestalt, transactional analysis and CBT.
