Tom Humphries PG Dip., MBACP
CORONAVIRUS - during this period of self-isolation, I am able to offer sessions via VIBER / Skype / Telephone.
Please contact me either by phone or e-mail and we can arrange an initial assessment session to establish what you are currently experiencing and what you would like to get from your therapy sessions.
Tom Humphries is a professionally qualified, registered and experienced psychodynamic counsellor, In a calm, confidential, and comfortable environment, you are free to talk safely about a wide range of difficult emotional issues without fear of rejection, judgement, criticism, or blame. You will have the space to work through those particular areas in your life that may be currently troubling you.
WHAT IS PSYCHODYNAMIC COUNSELLING AND HOW CAN IT HELP?
Psychodynamic counselling is primarily based on the idea that past experiences have an impact on the individuals experiences and feelings in the present.
During a counselling session, particular attention is given over to exploring unconscious patterns that may have evolved since childhood. Memories, dreams, and other evidence of early relationships are used to make sense of current relationships and the issues that are affecting your current life. The process of change occurs as you become increasingly aware of your unconscious patterns of behaviour, your use of defence mechanisms, instincts, and those inherited life rules. In time, this awareness allows you to gain insight into these patterns, to take control, and to make appropriate changes in your life.
