I am a BACP accredited Individual and Couple therapist bringing more than 25 years experience to the clients I work with. Finding a therapist that you can trust and feel safe with is vital. Our counselling relationship will always be core to the work we will do together.
Reviewing our work together will be an important part of your therapy as it is vital to me that you feel we are working collaboratively.
Now that you've made the decision to explore counselling options, first ask yourself three questions that can help you decide the best course of action for you:
1. Are you feeling stuck?
2. Is your life not going where you want it to?
3. Are you ready for things to change?
I recognise the importance and influence of human relationships on every aspect of our daily lives, whether this is family, parental, intimate or occupational.
With counselling support, you can learn to understand the impact these various relationships have on your feelings and daily life. You may be feeling anger, abuse, depressed or even find yourself living with the painful and difficult feelings associated with bereavement and loss.
You may also find that you are becoming more and more addicted and dependent on Porn use and it is interrupting your intimate relationships?
With counselling help you can begin to recognise some negative patterns or destructive relationship issues that may have developed and at times can get in the way of creating a life that's more fulfilling for you.
At times you may find yourself feeling regularly angry, stuck, living with anxiety, low in energy and lacking enthusiasm.
Counselling will help you understand these challenging feelings and begin to gain some control over them. For example, anger and angry feelings are often feelings that have been de-pressed and pushed down. At times I will refer to anger as a "request for understanding", our work is to help you begin to understand your conflicts and behaviours in a safe and non-judgemental environment.
The support that develops through counselling can be a unique opportunity for individual growth and development. And for getting you on a path toward the person you'd like to become.
By exploring past and present patterns, counselling may enable you to slowly take control of your life and start to re-discover the energy and joy you may have temporarily lost.
