About me

I am a fully qualified counsellor with 20 years experience. I am also a qualified mindfulness and relaxation teacher and practitioner.

My approach is person-centred and integrative. This enables you to deal with your issues in ways that are best suited to you. This can also promote positive growth and self belief.

I also use mindfulness as this has shown to be an effective tool in addressing depression and anxiety.

Counselling enables you to develop a clearer understanding of yourself and a better awareness of your emotional responses to personal, professional, physical or relationship difficulties. This process then can help you create better coping mechanisms and work on your personal development.

If you would like to find out whether this is the right approach for you, you can arrange an initial session with no commitment.

I work privately with a wide range of diverse issues and for the NHS in a fertility clinic.

My additional expertise is with donor conceived people and donors looking to find a match or who have been matched on DNA testing commercial organisations.  I provide support and guidance regarding the implications of DNA matching, such as how to best contact your match, how to manage expectations and boundaries, speaking to your family and mediation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Counselling Diploma (HE), B.Sc. (Hons) in Psychology and Advanced Teacher Certificate in Meditation, Mindfulness and relaxation.

I am a senior accredited counsellor with BICA.

I am a registered member of BACP and abide by their codes of ethics.

I attend training for professional and personal development on a regular basis.
I have extensive experience working with a wide range of issues as well as being specialised in the emotional and psychological impacts of infertility.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
