About me

Within my practice I offer support to help you clarify and examine the problems that are troubling you in a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space. This could be a specific issue, for example, adjusting to the loss of someone important in your life or help with managing anxiety or depression.

I have been working in private practice and the mental health sector for over sixteen years and I have experience of working with a range of problems and issues that affect both men and women.

My core training  is in Integrative Body Psychotherapy, this model of psychotherapy takes into account the way in which the body reacts to a psychological crisis. I employ talk therapy and recognised bodywork techniques such as breathwork and movement to help you increase your awareness and help process challenging feelings and emotions often associated with painful or traumatic memories.

Prior to working in the health sector I worked for a number of years in various respected media and public sector organisation which has provided a good insight to help clients manage difficult situations in their professional lives and learn to cope with work based stress.

I have particular interest working with people who find themselves in relating styles that have caused unhappiness; maybe they have become destructive or there is little room for expression and growth and feel like a 'habit'. Through exploring the way we relate to each other and early experiences of what relationships mean, we can begin to gain an insight not just what relationship you have to yourself but the nature of relationships to others. When focused on tackling problems in relationships sessions provide a creative and reflective space to become conscious of the dynamics of the relationships in your life and offer ways of improving them.  This can be helpful for those who are concerned that they are reaching a stage in their relationships that could move towards separation or divorce.

If you decide to make an appointment you will be invited to an initial consultation to discuss and possibly identify the problems you’re facing. The consultation will give you the opportunity to meet me and decide if therapy is right for you and provide a brief overview of how we would work together.
