Richard Absalom MBACP (Accredited) UKRCP Registered
The way we think and feel about ourselves, has a significant influence on our confidence, our moods and how we deal with life. As a counsellor and psychotherapist, with 12 years experience, I have a particular interest in helping you to understand how unhelpful thoughts, and unconscious emotional processes, can keep you stuck, repeating negative behaviours, and leaving a shadow on everyday life, some, or all of the time.
Whether as an individual, or couple, of any age, gender or sexuality, I will help you regulate, and manage difficult emotions as and when they arise.
And what are the benefits?
The therapeutic process will allow you to find new perspectives, on new and old problems, with an emphasis on understanding, over judgement. I will help you identify your patterns of behaviour, and to understand the reasons you think about yourself, and experience others in a particular way. Therapy encourages a fresh look, at old thought patterns.
Important events and people in your life past and present will have shaped your self-confidence, or the lack of it, your behaviour, your thinking and how you feel about yourself. Understanding these complex personal issues will help you gain more confidence, a more balanced outlook, and a more positive attitude towards yourself and others. This will ultimately help you to shape your life and your relationships for the better.
If you decide to contact me, I will endeavour to offer understanding and support over a sustained period, working with you to find a realistic and meaningful way forward.
