We all struggle with life from time to time and it can help to talk things through with someone who is friendly, understanding and non-judgmental, to find a way forward. I offer a warm, confidential and supportive therapy service, based in a professional and private setting in the heart of Fareham. I have been in practice for 20 years and see both individuals and couples. I have worked in local Government, for an Employee Assistance Programme and with a number of local charitable organisations
I am a very experienced, professional and well established Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor. Clients come to see me for many reasons and with a variety of issues including:
Relationships Under Strain or Breaking Down
Work Related Stress
Abuse and Trauma.
I see my role as supporting the client in resolving the difficulties which are holding them back from living a positive, fulfilling life. Essentially, I work from a relationship perspective, drawing upon all the major Counselling and Psychotherapy theoretical frameworks, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), to meet the needs of each individual client. I am also trained to use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing.
The first appointment is an assessment, or “toe in the water” session, which enables the client or couple to check out the process and decide whether working with me could be helpful for them. During our ongoing work together, we regularly carry out a review, to ensure the client or couple is getting what they need. I work with both individuals and couples, either on a short term or longer term basis, usually with weekly or fortnightly appointments. Short term work is typically around 6 to 8 sessions and longer term work can extend to a time frame to accommodate the client. Appointments are available every day and evening appointments up to 8pm are available on a Monday and Thursday.
My offices, The West Street Counselling & Psychotherapy Centre, are located in the central retail/business area of Fareham. A purpose designed, but private, professional practice, within easy reach of the M27 and local bus/train services.
My Professional Body is the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) with whom I hold Registered Senior Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist membership and an obligation to work within the their code of practice known as The Ethical Framework.
