About me

Hycinth Taylor is an integrative psychotherapist, mindfulness teacher and supervisor. With over 25 years in the psychological disciplines, Hycinth specialises in working with the mild to moderate mental health issues, childhood trauma, and managing and resolving relationship dilemmas. She has a warm, authentic and no-nonsense approach to her clinical practice. She works through the idea of embodiment – using the body as a guide to inform her work with clients - grounded in a philosophical approach of calmness,  and ease in the face of life's challenges. She has the ability to understand, and empathise with, difference.

Hycinth holds an Advanced Diploma in Counselling Psychotherapy and Clinical Supervision. She is the course leader for Diploma in Counselling at the Minster Centre and provides dedicated clinical supervision for  Headstrong Counselling, the Mary Ward Centre, and Signpost Counselling Service. She is a registered mindfulness teacher in MBCT and MBSR and a mindfulness supervisor. Registered with British Association of Mindfulness Approach (BAMBA). She is a ‘mindfulness in schools’ teacher, having trained with MiSP, and has delivered courses to teachers and students ages 7-11. She completed her training in providing mindfulness within non-clinical settings at the Oxford Mindfulness Centre.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I work integratively which means I adapt to individual client needs, rather than the clients fitting into the way I work. I have undertaken additional training in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which has been proved extremely beneficial for clients with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, post natal depression, stress, low self-esteem and loss. Clinical supervision is also available to pactitioners. This provides a constructive disussion for you to explore the work you are doing, with clients. Supporting you to examine your own way of being, looking at feelings, thoughts, and any fears that may emerge in your work. This relationship is desgined to support and enable you, to move forward in your work. Iam an experienced and registered  Mindfulness Teacher, Running regular Mindfulness Programmes since 2012.  .b Trained and Paws b. to deliver Mindfulness in schools.

Further information

Mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT) is a process of paying attention to our thoughts and feelings moment to moment without judgment. Learning to tune into what is going on within our experiences by suspending all self-criticism.

Becoming aware of our thoughts and feelings may not sound like the most obvious way to overcome stress, anxiety or depression. Learning to refrain from negative self-judgment and self-criticism can have an amazing effect.
