About me

I am a professional Counsellor and Supervisor, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), working within their ethical framework, for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

In these difficult times I can offer counselling via telephone, or online video, such as zoom or doxy.me. I have just completed Moving your practice online - a brief course for counsellors, psychotherapists and mental health practitioners from Online Therapy Institute.

I offer confidential counselling, in a safe and relaxed environment, with flexible appointment times during the daytime, evenings, and weekend. I am non-judgemental, understanding and respectful, and believe that the relationship between counsellor and client is central to the work. Counselling can be short term or longer term, dependent on your requirements.

As well as one to one counselling for adults, I have experience in Couples counselling, enhancing their communication and listening skills, so better to communicate with each other.

I will provide you with a supportive and private environment, where you can share your concerns in a confidential and safe place, exploring and clarifying problems and possible solutions. Counselling is about being able to share how you feel about yourself and others and having your feelings heard and respected. It can help you to recognise and to draw on your own strengths and resources, in order to deal with life's challenges in a positive way that is right for you.

Counselling is not about giving advice, but together exploring ways of finding your own answers, making the right choices for yourself, thereby empowering yourself. It can help to clarify and gain a clearer understanding of your problem, a different perspective, and to develop effective coping skills/tools for the future as well as the present.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

I have a small room in Dawlish, where I can meet you one to one or as a couple, and in certain circumstances I can visit you at your home, dependent on distance; this may incur travel costs. I also offer counselling via online video calls or phone. Sessions last for one full hour.

Supervision: I also offer one to one Supervision, and I work from an Integrative background. I have supervised since 2008 and I have a P.G. Diploma in Supervision (2013) and I also completed a Cruse Supervision Course in 2008. Sessions are usually a minimum of 1.5 hours per month, in compliance with BACP guide lines and also dependent on your client hours, at £40 per hour/£30 per hour for student counsellors.  I also offer supervision via Doxy.me, Zoom, Whatsapp or phone.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
